DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW. Written to match how the website actually works on 23 October 2026. Items in [square brackets] must be completed, and a legal adviser must review this page before launch.
We want every child, parent and teacher to be able to use Adele’s World of Languages, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Every page is checked automatically against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules each time the website changes.
- Flashcards, quizzes, lessons, the video player and the contact form can be used with a keyboard alone, and keyboard focus is always visible.
- Words in other languages are marked with their language, so screen readers pronounce them correctly.
- Pages work from 320 pixels wide upwards without sideways scrolling.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for less motion.
- Flashcards and lessons still show their content if JavaScript is switched off.
- Videos can have captions, and transcripts are shown under them when available.
Known limitations
- Some videos may not yet have captions or a transcript.
- The video player itself comes from [Bunny Stream / Vimeo]; its controls are that company’s responsibility.
- Quizzes need JavaScript.
- Testing with screen readers (such as NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack) by people who use them every day has not yet been completed. [Update after testing.]
